Haitian Flag Day NYC 2026

May 18 — Haitian flag, parades, fetes, food

Every May 18th, Brooklyn transforms into Port-au-Prince as our Haitian community celebrates Flag Day with the pride and joy this beautiful culture deserves. From the massive parade down Flatbush to intimate family fetes in East Flatbush and Crown Heights, this day showcases everything we love about Haitian NYC – the music that moves your soul, the art that tells our stories, and griot and boukannen that'll have you planning your next meal before you finish eating.

We update this list every Tuesday, but you know how it is – call ahead or check their socials since community spots sometimes switch up their hours for special events. Some celebrations require tickets or have limited space, especially the popular evening parties, so don't sleep on planning. Whether you're Haitian looking to connect with home or just someone who appreciates good culture and even better food, these spots will show you why May 18th hits different in Brooklyn.

We're still curating this list — check back this week, or tip a spot.
